Hypothyroidism is a hormonal disorder in which the thyroid gland is underactive, causing a range of health issues. There are two mutations known in cats to cause this hormonal disorder. These variants can occur in all breeds and are both caused by a recessive mutation to the gene TPO. This test is designed to measure the mutation that changes the aminoacid Glycine into Arginine.
