Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is described as an exaggerated inflammantory response within the lungs, occurring in the Dalmatian. The disorder is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene ANLN, which helps regulate intracellular junctions in the lungs.
Kliniske egenskaper
Clinical features include progressive tachypea and dyspnea could lead to a severe respiratory distress. In addition, puppies could undergo renal aplasia and hydrocephalus. Euthanasia on humane grounds is likely to be considered.
